Studio Monitor Speakers - Okay to Use for Home Listening?

Anyone use studio monitors as part of their home stereo listening setup? Chime in - comment below.

  1. A good pair of studio monitors are essentially known as having accuracy and (usually) the capacity for handling lots of power. I would recommend adding a good equalizer to tailor the sound. In other words, under the right circumstances, they should be fine.

  2. I have a set of Yamaha powered monitors that sound fabulous when used through a eq, in addition I use JBL control series monitors for use outdoors at my pool as well as another set setup using the omni ball mounts suspended off the ceiling and several people have inquired for where a sub was hidden ( no sub connected) To answer your questions, a monitor can sound as good as any other speaker if powered and set up properly.
